The Parish of St. Luke the Evangelist in Warsaw, established in 1992 by Cardinal Józef Glemp, began its pastoral ministry in the newly constructed Górce housing estate. The first Holy Mass was celebrated on the site of the future church in 1990. Initially, the parish used a wooden chapel brought from Jedlnia, and in 1992, Cardinal Glemp celebrated the first Midnight Mass in the newly built church. Due to prolonged disputes over the site, construction of the new church was delayed. However, after many efforts, construction began in 2001, designed by Aleksy Dworczak. A fire in 2004 destroyed the wooden church, but thanks to the generosity of parishioners and local authorities, a temporary chapel was quickly built. The fire did not damage the relics of St. Padre Pio, which was considered a miracle.
