The chateau in Kunín is one of the most important baroque chateaux in North Moravia and Silesia. It was built in 1726-1734 by the famous Austrian builder Jan Lukáš Hildebrandt for the Counts of Harrach. In 1998, the destroyed chateau became the property of the Kunín Municipality, which, in cooperation with the Novojičínská Museum, began a comprehensive restoration of the entire building. Today the chateau is one of the most richly furnished chateaus in Moravia, and the rooms furnished with original collections and tools offer a unique insight into a small country estate connected with the interesting fates of the people who once inhabited it.

The castle is considered one of the most valuable baroque monuments of northern Moravia and Silesia. It was built in 1726-34 by the famous Austrian architect J.L. von Hildebrandt as a country residence of the Harrach family. After the Second World War, it was nationalized and, badly damaged, served for the needs of an agricultural enterprise. There was a dormitory or medicine store. The castle has recently been renovated, the original collections are gradually being returned to its interior and it is once again open to the public. You can admire the hospitality rooms, the classrooms of the castle school with equipment, the picture gallery or the dance room. You will certainly be interested in visiting the castle grounds with a unique baroque chimney system.
