Dieter
May 31, 2026, St. Martin's Cathedral (Dom St. Martin), Rottenburg am Neckar

The marketplace was created in the course of the medieval founding of the town in the 13th century under the Counts of Hohenberg. Today, Baroque and historic buildings shape its appearance. Particularly striking is the town hall, which was rebuilt after the town fire of 1735. Directly opposite stands St. Martin's Cathedral, the city's landmark. Together, the Cathedral, Town Hall, and fountain form one of the most famous cityscapes in the upper Neckar valley.

The Narrenbrunnen (Fools' Fountain) is one of the most famous newer landmarks. It is located in Bahnhofstraße in front of the Zehntscheuer and was inaugurated in 2009. The bronze column, over five meters high, depicts the most important figures and traditions of the Rottenburg Fasnet (carnival). At the base are the main masks: Ahland Pompele Hexe Laufnarr Above them, typical scenes of the Swabian-Alemannic Fasnet are depicted, including the handover of the keys for the Fasnet opening, the fanfare band, the money bag washing, and the street Fasnet. At the top stands Countess Mechthild, who is considered the historical symbolic figure of the Rottenburg Fasnet. Her "Vasnachten" from 1452 are considered an early documented mention of the Fasnacht in Rottenburg.

The Josef-Eberle-Brücke is a modern foot and cycle bridge over the Neckar river. It connects the historic old town with the southern part of the city and the train station. The current bridge was rebuilt between 2008 and 2010 according to plans by Werner Sobek. It replaced an older bridge from the 1960s, which had structural defects and also impaired flood protection.
