The Rostock-Warnemünde cruise port is located on the Neuer Strom / Seekanal in Warnemünde on the Baltic Sea. The Warnemünde train station is in the immediate vicinity. In the Middle Ages, the port of Warnemünde was one of the most important transshipment points on the Baltic Sea. Today, with eight berths of various sizes and equipment, it is considered Germany's most important cruise port. It can be approached by cruise ships up to 355 meters long and with a draft of approximately 8.50 meters. The Warnemünde Cruise Center cruise terminal was opened in 2005. Since then, the port has been used by some shipping companies as a starting or destination port for cruises. But not only cruise ships call at Rostock-Warnemünde, but also some ferries offering crossings to Denmark and Sweden. Homepage: https://wmnde.de/hafen-warnemuende/

The first buildings in the fishing village arose along the Alter Strom (Old Stream) in Warnemünde: small, whitewashed captain's and fishermen's houses with thatched roofs, often colorfully decorated doors, and low gables facing the water. Narrow alleys led to the harbor, where fishing boats docked. Alexandrinenstraße, in particular, running parallel to the stream, still displays this historic structure today: narrow lots, densely built rows of small houses, and a maritime flair that preserves the original character of the town.

The German Weather Service (DWD) station is located very close to the beach promenade. A sign provides information about the station's history and local weather records.

Beautiful shopping street, leads directly to the Warnemünde Church. A church in the fishing village of Warnemünde is documented as early as the 13th century.[1] During military conflicts fought in Warnemünde between the city of Rostock and Henry II, in cooperation with the Danish King Eric VI, the church in Warnemünde and the tower of St. Peter's Church in Rostock were destroyed in March 1312 to obtain building materials for a bastion with a stone tower. The people of Rostock lost this war in December 1312 and were forced to recognize the sovereignty of the dukes and the Danish king and to commit to building a new wooden church in Warnemünde.[2] It is not documented whether this successor building was destroyed during the renewed conflict between the Rostock Council and the troops of Duchess Catherine of Mecklenburg in 1430, but it seems possible. Great for seeing the beach life, but a lot of getting off and walking as cycling is often prohibited or not possible.

A break in Warnemünde is worthwhile. The beach feels like part of the city and is within walking distance. If you have the chance to admire the curved roof of the Teepott, you should do it: It was Ulrich Müther's first rotunda. The roof appears to be part of a wave.
