The Lutherkirche is an evangelical church building under monument protection in Dortmund-Asseln, Asselner Hellweg 118. The Lutherkirche is a Neo-Gothic, cross-vaulted hall church with a choir with a 5/8 closure. The foundation stone was laid on June 8, 1904. It was built from ashlar sandstone until 1906. This comes from the quarry in Hörstel near Ibbenbüren and was shaped there and transported by train to the Wickede-Asseln station. Finally, the new church building was clad with worked stones, so that the tower and the rectangular choir formed a unit with the new church. The main facades are on the west and south sides, each with a large rose window and decorated entrance portals. The rose window on the south facade is framed by mosaic medallions. Southeast of the current choir is the old, two-bay Gothic rectangular choir dating from the Middle Ages, which was incorporated as an extension and converted into a mourning hall. To the west is the medieval church tower with a pointed spire, which was integrated into the new church as a listed building. The masonry on the lower north facade is structured by bifora windows. Above them are large pointed arch windows in the Neo-Gothic style. A copper-clad roof rider is located on the roof ridge of the current choir.

The Luther Church in Dortmund-Asseln, consecrated in 1908, is a neo-Gothic hall church that incorporates historical elements of a predecessor chapel from the 11th/13th century (Romanesque tower, early Gothic chancel). It replaced the old village church due to lack of space and structural instability and is known for its almost completely intact Art Nouveau interior. (KI)

The Luther Church is a listed Protestant church building at Asselner Hellweg 118. The original church was built around 1250, when Asseln became an independent parish. The current construction of the Luther Church began in 1904 after the old church was demolished. The church tower, which was originally built in the 12th century as a defense and escape tower, is one of the oldest elements and was expanded in 1777. Today the church serves as the center of the Protestant community of Asseln and offers numerous services and community activities.
