Is the detour worthwhile? Yes, unless it is - as during my last visit - about 30° warm and it rained the night before. Stopping was out of the question because of the mosquitoes

One of the many highlights around the bench at Lottbeker Stausee.

nice approach road to climb the Bocksberg. At the top there is a bench, a wonderful view into the plain. Down by the lake you can enjoy a small single trail. Here too, the best time is during the week!

There used to be a swimming pool here and people came from the city to vacation. Until before Corona, there was a natural swimming pond on the campsite that you could visit. Now you can go into the water in some places in the summer to swim. It's worth riding around the lake or being out here with a gravel bike because you can get out of Hamburg very well. Tip: The hollow path to the Lottbek reservoir is an absolute highlight.

Brooke, Hansdorf and Duvenstedt are great for a little bike ride in nature. A gravel bike or mountain bike (hardtail) is optimal as a vehicle.

There's nothing special to see here. A small pond that isn't really worth mentioning. You'd probably just ride past it on a gravel bike.

The Duvenstedter Brook is an interesting local recreation area, also for gravel bikes. If you really want to enjoy nature completely, you can also go to the Oberalsterniederung, the Niewohlder Moor and the Jersbeker Wald. All four areas can easily be done in one ride with a gravel bike.

Like many reservoirs, the Lottbeker Stausee is there to protect homes from flooding. Although it is not deep, it is now leased by the AV Alster fishing club.
