The Kiewitt ferry is a basic cable ferry in Potsdam across the Havel at the northern end of the Templiner See, which crosses the river over a distance of 227 meters between Kiewitt and Hermannswerder. The Old Guardhouse is located at the corner of Lindenstrasse and Charlottenstrasse. At the beginning of the 18th century, this was where traders arriving from Werder and Brandenburg an der Havel were inspected. After the so-called Second City Expansion, it served as the main guardhouse. Later, Andreas Ludwig Krüger transformed the building into a prestigious structure with a neoclassical colonnade. At that time, it included a guardhouse, the fitting room on the upper floor, and butcher stalls. Today, the Old Guardhouse houses a bank.
