The market square has always been the center of the city and was and is a place for many cultural events. Among other things, there was a large folk festival on April 30, 1884 to mark the handover of the dam at Wadehäng, a shooting festival in 1912 and a fire drill with a parade in 1924. The tradition continues today, with the handover of keys and the parade to the Krakow masked ball and the city festival on the first weekend in June.
