On the lake there are the nature reserves Dune Pine Forest in the west and the northern shores of Langhagensee and Kleiner Langhagensee in the north. At the southern end, near the Wooster Teerofen settlement, there is a small campsite and a heavily silted bathing area. There was a children's holiday camp at this bathing area until the 1990s. There was a military training area for the National People's Army near the lake.

The nature reserve dune pine forest at Langhagensee is a conditionally near-natural forest complex. The pines standing here, a few beeches and sessile oaks grow on a fine sandy surface on which some inland dunes are placed. They were created after the Ice Age, when many areas lay fallow thanks to the former ice cover and vegetation only slowly developed on them. Even today, the forest here is quite sparse in some places and typical heather plants such as juniper can grow and thus form a typical heather vegetation.
