A hike around Bad Bederkesa Lake is absolutely recommendable and interesting at the same time. A restaurant invites you to linger, as does an observation tower and some park benches. A visit is recommendable and interesting at the same time.

On the bike path between Schiffdorf and Spaden, you'll find the lock. The Geeste River flows alongside it. A restaurant is located directly to the right of the bridge. A great bike path leads along the Geeste to Bremerhaven. Highly recommended 👍.

A very beautiful route 😀 we almost missed the location 😉. Turn right just after the bridge and the entrance is just around the corner 😜.

The small, rectangular church, built of plastered rubble stone, was built in the 13th century. It was substantially remodeled in 1774. A small turret rises from the gable roof to the west. The bell tower is the oldest building in the churchyard. Its fieldstone masonry dates back to the 13th century. The date 1767, engraved in the masonry, indicates a remodeling, still recognizable today by the brick repairs and the gable roof. The chimes consist of two bells: "Maria von Bramel" (cast in 1450, recast several times) and a second, unnamed bell cast in 1636. The park also contains a preserved steel emergency bell from the war year of 1918, when the bells were delivered for (fortunately, not) melting down (source: https://kirchengemeinde.bramel.de/wissenswertes/der-glockenturm/).

Long before the discovery of electricity and the inventions associated with it, our ancestors discovered the possibility of harnessing the power of the elements - which could be useful on the one hand, but also a threat as a force of nature on the other - for various purposes. A good example of the human inventiveness of earlier generations is such a mill: the heavy millstones used to grind grain or press oil, for example, could be powered by water or - as here - the wind. Only a few of them still fulfill their original function today, but fortunately some have at least survived as evidence of the old days.
