Salzstraße is one of Münster's oldest trading streets. It was first mentioned as "vicus salis" in 1346. What began as a narrow path behind the courtyards on Alter Steinweg developed into a central thoroughfare running from Servatiiplatz to St. Lambert's Church on Prinzipalmarkt. After World War II, the city center was heavily damaged. The street was rebuilt in a rather simple style, while the Erbdrostenhof, St. Clemens Church, and the Dominican Church were elaborately restored in the Baroque style. Today, Salzstraße is a bustling shopping street.

Hikes and walks through Wienburg City Park lead you through a beautiful water landscape. You'll find three interconnected ponds of varying sizes, fed by different streams and releasing excess water back into the Aa River. Because the ponds were at risk of silting up over the years, the city dredged them and reshaped the banks. Today, the landscape provides a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. With funding from the EU and the state, the entire area has been ecologically enhanced in recent years.

In the birch grove of Wienburgpark, you stroll among slender, white-trunked silver birches. On your walk through the avenue, you leave everyday life behind. The delicate leaves rustle in the wind, and here and there a songbird can be heard.
