Here you see arrows pointing towards the sheepfold and the sheepfold itself in the distance. Take a walk there. From this sheepfold, the shepherd goes on a tour with his sheep to let them graze on (temporarily) fenced-off selected areas of heathland. And there is a picnic bench with an extensive information board about the sheepfold and the grazing of the heathland. A special walk, the Lammetjesroute (Lambs Route), for children, 4 kilometers long, also passes by, about which you can read more at https://www.visitnoordlimburg.nl/nl/lammetjesroute

The Seraing Arboretum boasts a rich collection of tree species, including a giant sequoia measuring approximately 38 meters tall with a circumference of 6.60 meters (approximately 2.10 meters in diameter). The giant sequoia is renowned for its ability to withstand impacts (its bark is approximately 3 cm thick) and was used in firebreaks because its moist bark provides good resistance to forest fires. There are also Vancouver firs measuring approximately 51 meters tall, though some have died standing. If you'd like to see for yourself, you can make the "lumberjack's cross," an easy and fun activity. Please respect the trees by not tearing the bark off the sequoia and by staying on the paths. We wish you a pleasant walk.

Absolutely. The Maas region is rich in natural beauty. You can encounter dramatic river valleys, extensive forests, and unique riverine ecosystems with mudflats and floodplains. Impressive geological formations, like deep gorges and rock formations, also add to the scenery. While many trails in the Ardennes can be challenging, the broader Maas Valley offers easier paths suitable for families. Look for routes described as 'easy' or those along the EuroVelo 19 – Meuse Cycle Route, which has sections accessible for all abilities. Always check the route's difficulty and length to ensure it matches your family's experience level.
The Maas region is generally enjoyable for mountain biking from spring through autumn. Spring brings lush greenery, while autumn offers beautiful fall foliage. Summer is also popular, but be mindful of potential heat. Winter conditions can make some trails muddy or slippery, especially in the more rugged Ardennes areas, so always check local weather and trail conditions before heading out.
For a more physically demanding ride with significant elevation gain, consider routes in the Ardennes or those rated as 'difficult'. An example is Between Meuse and Lesse - Province of Namur, a 19.3 miles (31.1 km) trail with over 430 meters of elevation gain. Another challenging option is The Risdoux, which features nearly 500 meters of ascent over 31.6 km.

For example, the Citadel woods - Province of Namur route explores the forested areas around the historic Citadel of Namur. Other areas feature castles, museums, and picturesque villages like Dinant, Namur, and Maaseik.
For longer and more challenging rides, consider routes like Citadel of Namur – Forest Descent Trail loop from Namur, which covers 41.8 km with over 760 meters of elevation gain. Another option is View of the Leukermeer – Reindersmeer Beach loop from Maashees, a 45.2 km moderate route.
