Since 1976, Schönberg Beach has had a heritage railway. During the summer months, you can ride the historic trains on the line between Schönberg Baltic Sea Resort station and Schönberg Beach. Until the mid-20th century, this was still possible regularly with the so-called "Hein Schönberg." At that time, the line extended all the way to Kiel, crossing the Probstei region. Passenger service was largely discontinued in 1975. Since then, buses operated by the Plön District Transport Authority (VKP) have served as a replacement for the connection to Kiel. Lines 200, 201, and 210 serve Schönberg and Schönberg Beach.

The watermill, first mentioned in 1320, was rebuilt in 1866 and decommissioned exactly 100 years later. In 1982, it was converted into a residential building. From 1904, a power plant operated on the site, supplying electricity to Hagen and Dobersdorf, as well as the church, rectory, and school, until the turbine was decommissioned and the mill demolished in 1930.

The old watermill was first mentioned in 1320. The current watermill buildings were built in 1866. In 1908, the Hagen estate was granted the right to use the Hagener Au, which allowed an electricity plant to be operated in the adjacent mill building from 1911 onward. It supplied the Hagen and Dobersdorf estates with electricity. After the provost's estate was electrified by Schleswag in 1922, it was closed down in 1930 and subsequently demolished. After the school closed, the Hagen Manor House, known to the local community as a castle for generations, was converted into a cultural center. After severe mold and mildew infestation was discovered at the beginning of the 21st century, the almost 400-year-old building underwent extensive renovations from 2007 to 2010. The castle remained closed during this time, and the site's usage concept was revised. Hagen has been open to visitors again since 2011. The castle's rooms can be rented for private events, and concerts and readings are also held there. Apartments and a doctor's office have been created on the upper floor.
