Nice middle age paintings in the ceiling. The church is not very large, but is on a hill with a nice view. Mostly over modern Lyngby

The first Lyngby church was built by granite stones in the middle of the 12th century in Romanesque style, with small high-altitude and round arched windows, a male door on the south side and a women's door on the north side. From this Romanesque church, the granite baptismal font and the exterior of the east gable originate the limestone relief of an animal with a human in the mouth, called the Lyngby Lion. The relief has probably been meant as a warning to the congregation to observe the devil (= the lion). In the early 15th century, the Romanesque church was given a tower, and around 1500 the church was rebuilt and expanded in Gothic style. The walls and tower were elevated, the ship extended to the west and to the east, and a chapel was extended to the south with entrance through the old man's door. At the same time, 5 vault subjects were built into the ship and choir, and the church received larger, pointed or curved windows. The frescoes of the church are contemporaries with the vaulting and are according to. The National Museum performed about 1500 of the Brarup workshop, an outlet of the Elmelunde workshop. They are typical of their time. However, the colors have been more varied than today, where the durable reddish-brown color dominates. source: https://www.lyngby-kirke.dk/om-kirken/kirkens-historie/
