On its 33rd anniversary, a milestone in carnival terms, the carnival association De Pierewaaiers presented the village with a lasting memento: a bronze statue of a Baokels Pierke. Gemert artist Toon Grassens was approached to sculpt the bronze statue. The sculptor asked what such a Pierke should look like. The carnival association didn't have to think long about it. Hendrik Bouwmans was well-known in the village for his positive, cheerful disposition. His characteristic way of cycling through the village, whistling, was characteristic. And so, in 1996, Hendrik Bouwmans served as the model. He was immensely proud of "his" statue until his death on January 13, 2017.

In many of Grégoire's sculptures, legs, arms, hands, and feet play a significant role. This is also the case in Just Married. The viewer will immediately recognize the hand and foot without visualizing the corresponding bodies. After all, it's not about the characters or a story, but about the feelings this touch represents: tenderness, blossoming love, and care.

With his often large sculptures, Gidy Knoors attempts to evoke emotions such as peace and contemplation and to radiate timelessness. He is fascinated by primal forms and primal emotions. The three-meter-high bronze statue of a pregnant woman was installed in Helmond in 1999. It is not the only sculpture in Knoors' work that features a pregnant woman.

Marti de Greef creates almost all of his sculptures in bronze. He casts his sculptures himself. Since 1978, he has combined his craft as a bronze caster with his artistry. The subjects (nudes, amazons, warriors, bulls, and horses) and the basic form of his figurative sculptures connect with the classics. By omitting, shortening, or significantly thickening body parts, he creates a unique visual language. Marti de Greef creates almost all of his bronze. He casts his sculptures himself. Erftemeijer's sculptures are reflections of everyday phenomena, yet simultaneously elevate them beyond themselves. For a further description, see sculpture no. 13 (Woman on a Chair).

The St. Lambertus Church in Helmond is an imposing neo-Gothic cruciform basilica built between 1856 and 1861 to a design by architect Pierre Cuypers, known for his designs such as the Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam Central Station. The church was dedicated to St. Lambertus, the patron saint of the city. The building is notable for its tall tower, pointed arches, and rich neo-Gothic details. Inside, you'll find beautiful stained-glass windows, ornate altars, and vaults that give the church an impressive, almost cathedral-like appearance. The St. Lambertus Church is considered one of the most beautiful neo-Gothic churches in Brabant and is an important cultural and historical landmark for Helmond.
