The Carolinaberg is a hill, approximately 50 meters high, located north of the Hof te Dieren in Dieren. The Carolinaberg and the Prins Willemberg, located 1350 meters further west, are part of the historic garden and park layout of the Hof te Dieren. Both hills are named after children of stadtholder William IV and Anne of Hanover. The perfectly straight Koningsweg forms the connection between the two hills. The entire complex of the Hof te Dieren is designated as a national monument. From the top of the Carolinaberg, thirteen avenues - originally fourteen avenues - lead down in all directions. Seen from above, this shows a star-shaped pattern. The Carolinaberg forms the center of a star forest located around it. Originally, a linden tree with a bench stood at the top of the Carolinaberg. The linden tree has been replaced by a copper beech. The hill was originally laid out for driven hunts. The area between the avenues was planted with coppice. Drivers would flush out the game, which was then shot from the hill as it fled.

Koningslaan in the Veluwezoom region is a historic, monumental beech avenue, laid out in the 17th century at the behest of Prince William II and later King-Stadtholder William III. It formed a perfectly straight connecting road between the Hof te Dieren (courtyard in Dieren) and the hunting lodge on the Ginkelse Heide, as part of a vast game park. This majestic avenue, which follows the rolling hills of the landscape, is a remnant of the "King's Roads" the princes constructed for their hunting parties and is now a beautiful walking path through the Onzalige Bossen (unsung forests).
