Dębiec is a settlement that has been defunct since the 1970s, located on a sandy hill among peat meadows. There is a viewing tower and two jetties leading to the Ełk River. Here we find ruins of old buildings and a nicely maintained and fenced votive cross of the Pachucki family.

Beautiful, green place on the Kapitsky Canal. A surprising little bridge, with a thick bush of trees on the other side - it looks very wild and beautiful. There is also a good information board here.

A beautiful observation tower overlooking the flat but vast marshy area between Goniadz and Wólka Piaseczna. It is worth stopping here and climbing the steps.

Right next to the road (unfortunately it is asphalt, but you have to somehow get to other places) there is a tower with a beautiful view of the meadows and Biebrza floodplains.

The observation tower is located right next to the road, so it's impossible not to notice it. It is worth stopping for a moment and going up to admire the charms that BPN offers us.

The bus-accessible trails in this guide offer a range of difficulties. You'll find one easy route, one moderate route, and one difficult route, ensuring options for different fitness levels.
Yes, there are two excellent circular routes accessible by bus. The Goniądz Viewing Terrace – Goniądz Town Hall loop is a moderate 11 km hike, and the Goniądz Town Hall – Bakteriyuska Historic House loop offers an easier 5 km option, both starting and ending in Goniądz.
The trails offer a deep dive into the unique wetland ecosystem of Biebrzański Park Narodowy. You'll encounter the meandering Biebrza River, vast marshlands, and potentially unique 'mineral islands' known as 'Grądy'. Keep an eye out for diverse flora and fauna, especially birds and moose.
Absolutely. The Goniądz Viewing Terrace – Goniądz Town Hall loop specifically includes the Observation Tower Over the Biebrza Marshes, offering panoramic views of the wetlands. You can also find the historic Ruins of Osowiec Fortress Bunkers nearby, which serves as a starting point for various trails.
Each season offers a different experience. Spring (March-April) is ideal for observing the impressive 'rozlewiska' (spring floods) and birdwatching, as many waterfowl and wading birds return. Summer provides lush greenery and warmer weather, while autumn brings beautiful colors. Winter offers a serene, snow-covered landscape, though some trails might be more challenging due to conditions.
Yes, the Goniądz Town Hall – Bakteriyuska Historic House loop is an easy, shorter option perfect for families. It's a 5 km circular route with minimal elevation gain, making it manageable for younger hikers.
Given the wetland environment, appropriate footwear is crucial. Depending on the season, waterproof hiking boots or even rubber boots/waders might be necessary, especially during spring floods. Always carry water, snacks, insect repellent (especially in warmer months), and binoculars for wildlife viewing. A map or GPS device is also recommended.
The area is highly rated by the komoot community, with an average score of 4.6 stars. Reviewers often praise the profound sense of wildness, the exceptional birdwatching opportunities, and the unique experience of exploring one of Europe's largest natural wetland complexes. The tranquility and untouched nature are frequently highlighted.
Biebrzański Park Narodowy is the largest refuge for moose in Poland, so sightings are possible, especially in quieter areas and during dawn or dusk. The park is also home to wolves, lynx, beavers, and a vast array of bird species. While not guaranteed, the trails offer excellent opportunities for wildlife observation.
For experienced hikers seeking a longer adventure, the Goniadz - Ruda: Biebrza National Park route is a challenging 28 km point-to-point hike. This difficult trail allows for a deeper exploration of the park's expansive landscapes, starting from a bus-accessible point in Goniądz.
