Lessinia, or Monti Lessini, is a plateau and an Alpine supergroup located mainly in the province of Verona and partially in the provinces of Vicenza and Trento. A part of the Lessini territory constitutes the Lessinia Regional Natural Park. It borders to the north with the Val di Ronchi and the Carega Group, to the east with the Val Leogra, to the south with the Adige and the upper Veronese plain and to the west with the Val Lagarina. Its peaks reach an altitude between 1500 and 1800 m above sea level. https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lessinia

Absolutely! The Molina Waterfalls in the Parco delle Cascate di Molina are a fantastic family destination. This park offers trails of varying difficulty through lush forests, leading to impressive waterfalls and natural pools, perfect for a refreshing outing.
For easy, circular routes, consider the Lessinia Regional Nature Park. A great option is the Rifugio Lausen and Middle Lessinia Ridge Loop, which is a moderate trail offering beautiful views and a chance to explore the park's unique landscape. Another excellent choice in Lessinia is the Rifugio Podesteria loop tour.
While many trails in the mountainous areas might be challenging for strollers, you can find more accessible paths in areas like the Adige Valley or specific sections of the Lessinia Regional Nature Park. Look for routes described as 'easy' and check their terrain details for paved or well-compacted surfaces. The Parco delle Cascate di Molina also has some easier sections.
Verona's region is rich in natural and historical sights. You might encounter impressive geological formations like the Chiusa di Ceraino in the Adige Valley, or the unique Tibetan Bridge of Crero. The Lessinia Park is known for its ancient fossils and natural bridges like Ponte di Veja. Many trails also offer panoramic views of Lake Garda or the city of Verona itself.
Many trails in the Verona region are dog-friendly, especially in natural parks like Lessinia. It's always advisable to keep dogs on a leash, especially in protected areas or near livestock, and to check specific park regulations before you go. Always ensure you carry water for your pet and clean up after them.
Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are generally the best seasons for family hiking in Verona. The weather is mild and pleasant, and the landscapes are vibrant with spring blooms or autumn colors. Summer can be hot, especially in July and August, so early morning or late afternoon hikes are recommended, particularly on trails with shade or near water. Winter offers unique snowy landscapes in the higher Lessinia mountains, but requires appropriate gear and caution.
Yes, many hiking areas, especially in Lessinia and near Lake Garda, have rifugios (mountain huts), restaurants, or cafes where you can stop for a meal or a snack. Towns and villages along the routes, such as those in the Valpolicella wine region, also offer various amenities. It's a good idea to check opening hours, especially outside peak season.
Yes, Monte Baldo, often called the 'Garden of Europe,' provides spectacular panoramic views of Lake Garda. While some trails on Monte Baldo can be challenging, there are also easier sections and viewpoints accessible for families to enjoy the breathtaking vistas of Italy's largest lake.
Absolutely! Verona's region is rich in history. Many trails pass through or near ancient villages, Romanesque monuments, and historic villas, particularly in the Valpolicella wine region. You can also visit the unique Santuario Madonna della Corona, a pilgrimage site carved into a rock face, which can be reached via a rewarding hike.
