March 12, 2026, Damhus Lake

Damhussøen is a large, artificial lake and is a tranquil escape for locals who enjoy, cycle and run along the flat, 3.5 kilometre gravel path. Historically used as a reservoir for Copenhagen’s water supply, the lake is now a protected nature area particularly popular for birdwatching.

March 12, 2026, Sortedams Sø

Sortedams Sø is one of the "Lakes" in central Copenhagen, known for its wide, gravel paths that are a staple for the city's joggers and commuters. Its name, meaning "Black Pond Lake," reflects its history as a former part of the city's fortification system, now serving as a popular urban space for locals and tourists to enjoy the outdoors.

One of Copenhagen's lakes with cycleways as well as pedestrian paths for running and walking around. The lakes are quite shallow and can be smelly when the water is low, but in general they are very pretty and popular for recreation amongst locals. Swimming is not allowed, but there's some bars and cafés along the lakes and there are many birds to spot.

One of my favorites spots, when walking in the area. Love the fact that you are a little higher then area around you, so you get a good view of your surroundings.

Beautiful, large lawn with a swimming area. There are two seating areas and a bench if you don't want to lie on the grass. There's also a trash can, and even though there was a graduation party here yesterday, it looks exemplary and well-maintained. The water is very easy and shallow to enter, making it a great spot for cooling off even for non-swimmers. It gets deeper after 2-3 meters, so keep an eye on children at all times. Fishing is permitted here under the following rules: Fishing only with a valid permit from the Sors Lystfiskerforening (Sors Fishing Association). Fishing licenses for the Sore Lakes are available online at www.s-lf.dk, at www.danskfiskekort.dk, or at Soro Camping, Udbyhojvej 10, 4180 Soro. Maximum catch of 2 zander per person per day - all zander over 70 cm must be released. Maximum catch of 2 pike per person per day - all pike over 80 cm must be released. Maximum catch of 5 perch per person per day - all perch over 35 cm must be released. All carp must be released carefully. Repeated violations will be prosecuted.
