Hinter den Eggen: This is what the rearmost section of the Sertig valley, with Dörfli and Sand, has always been called. Anyone who consults the writings of Annemarie’s deceased husband Christian, a former National Councillor and Landammann of Davos, can delve deep into Sertig’s past. In the 13th century, the Barons of Vaz are said to have brought a dozen families from the Valais into the Landwasser valley to settle the area more densely – including the side valley of Sertig. Over time, the individual farmstead settlements of the Walser became so-called Nachbarschaften (neighbourhoods), one of which was that of «hinter den Eggen». «When the little church was built in 1699», says Annemarie, «about 100 people lived here year-round. And the path to church in Davos-Frauenkirch was too far for them.» So they collected money and built their own little church through communal labour. Thus, the landowners of Sertig, organised in a cooperative, still own the private house of God today. Source: https://www.graubuenden.ch/de/graubuenden/regionen/bergdoerfer/sertig-doerfli
