The old brickworks was converted into a cozy café in 1979. There you can also find the privately brewed beer of the Langlotz barn brewery from Frankenroda... delicious IPA

The "Café Gisela" is a family business through and through. The handmade cakes and pies come from the Meyer bakery, founded in 1925 and run by Gisela's nephew Christian in the fourth generation. The daily changing delicacies are a dream. The Café Gisela, idyllically located on the Werra, was opened in 1979 by the real "Frankenrödschen" Gisela Götze together with her husband Eckhard. With a lot of craftsmanship, Eckhard transformed the building of the former brickworks into a gem where you can unwind with a good cup of coffee in the middle of nature. 👍1a 🍰

This boundary stone on the Hainichlandweg, not far from the Hassenburg, commemorates the course of the former border between the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha (HSG) and the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach (SWE). The adjacent property Probsteizella belonged to the rule of Duke Ernst August of SWE. After 1922, Probsteizella was assigned to the former Hopffgarten court village of Frankenroda. The 360 degree view is called Stöckigt and is a great vantage point. 😎 Six years ago, the old observation tower on the highest point in the Creuzburg district of Scherbda, the 422 meter high Stöckigberg, was demolished because it was in disrepair. Almost overnight. Since then, it has been empty, a wound gaping in an exposed place. This was regretted not only by the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal nature park administration. Now there is a new tower that two Scherbda craftsmen built from larch wood felled by the local construction yard. Carpenter Sebastian Witzani and roofer Sebastian Ebel have left their home village a wooden structure that is special and bears the signature of the congenial duo. (...TLZ dated 8.5.24, Jensen Zlotowicz) A big thank you to the two craftsmen. Proud achievement, you did a great job with the tower.🔝😎

The observation dome is called Stöckigt, and the wooden structure on the Scherbdaer Höhe was created by two locals as it has been on display since May 2024. "TLZ-Jensen Zlotowicz/ Scherbda. Six years ago, the old observation tower on the highest point in the Creuzburg district of Scherbda, the 422-meter-high Stöckigberg, was demolished due to dilapidation. Almost overnight. Since then, emptiness has yawned there, a wound gaping in an exposed place. This was regretted not only by the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park administration. Now there is a new tower that two Scherbda craftsmen built from larch wood felled by the local construction yard. Carpenter Sebastian Witzani and roofer Sebastian Ebel have left their home village a wooden structure that is special and bears the signature of the congenial duo."Thanks to the two craftsmen for this masterpiece. The little temple turned out so beautiful. 🔝🙏👋

Isolated farmstead to the right of the Werra between Frankenroda and Falken. Probsteizella was first mentioned in 1104 in a document by Archbishop Ruthard of Mainz. It reports that this bishop consecrated an altar near Falken, with a noble knight "Pilgrim de Trifurte" mentioned as a witness among those involved. The initial equipment of the "cell" founded by Ruthard included a mill, property in the neighboring town of Schnellmannshausen, in Hötzelsroda, in a deserted village of Honingen (on the edge of the Hainich?), in the village of Almenhausen near Mihla, which later also became deserted, and a place called "Steinbach", which was apparently only disputed in 1269, in the still uncleared forest district between Falken, Scherbda, Frankenroda and Nazza. https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probsteizella#Geschichte
