The oldest parts of the church, the lower parts of the walls of the nave made of bog iron and boulders, date from 985. The lower floors of the church tower in the west were built in the 12th century. The upper floors of the church tower were raised from ashlars in the middle of the 13th century and in the 15th century the choir with the polygonal apse and the buttresses made of bricks were added. On the west side of the tower is the round-arched portal with stepped jambs and profiled imposts, above which is a bull's eye. The top floor of the tower, which is covered with a pyramid roof and in which the bell cage is located, has triforia as sound arcades. The segmental arched windows in the choir are in pointed arched blinds. The two-bay nave was covered in the 15th century with a bustled cross vault, the choir is covered with a flat ceiling. There is a wide, pointed choir arch between the nave and the choir. A patron's box was built into the choir in the 17th century. The church furnishings include a simple altarpiece, made around 1780. The Last Supper is painted on the predella. The pulpit dates from the first half of the 16th century. A tabernacle stands north of the altar. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zum_Heiligen_Kreuz_(Kirchwahlingen)
