This bunker protected people from what was stored inside. The explosives stored here were needed at the nearby Backenberger quarry.

In 1574, the von Stockhausen family committed themselves to maintaining and improving the church in Levenhagen with "special services and contributions from their subjects at their expense." In 1792, patron Ernst Friedrich Christian Borries von Stockhausen had a new church building built in Löwenhagen. https://kirchengemeindelexikon.de/einzelgemeinde/loewenhagen/

Memorial stone for Bodo Börries von Stockhausen. The von Stockhausen family. With the settlement of the property rights between the Imbsen parish and the fideicommissary owner Bodo Börries von Stockhausen on February 12, 1920, the latter renounced all claims to the church building in Imbsen and discharged his patronage obligations by paying 20,000 marks. Conversely, the church council renounced "all claims of a property nature that it could have against the current fideicommissary owner or his legal successor, as well as against later fideicommissary owners on the basis of the existing patronage, in particular those arising from any church building burden, so that the respective patron as such is no longer obliged to make any property payments on the basis of the patronage right."24 With the repeal of the KapG Imbsen on January 1, 1982, the patronage expired.

Church from 1792, newly built at the time by the patron family von Stockhausen. (In front of the church, several family graves testify to the importance of this family). "With the founding of the KG Niemetal, the patronage of the von Stockhausen family over the Löwenhagen community expired. The church initially remained Stockhausen's property. On January 1, 1983, the family transferred the building to the KG Niemetal; it retained the right to use the surrounding cemetery as a family cemetery." (Source: https://kirchengemeindelexikon.de/einzelgemeinde/loewenhagen/) A beautiful, quiet Lutheran church that is also open as a stop on the Loccum pilgrimage route and invites you to silence and prayer.
