The Ottenweier Hof (also Ottenweirer Hof) is a historic, listed farmstead in the municipality of Neuried. It is idyllically located in the countryside between the districts of Ichenheim and Schutterzell, surrounded by fields and forests of the Ortenau district. The vanished village: Around 1300, the village of Hottenwyllere (later Hotenwilre) emerged at this spot, where, according to the records of the Schuttern Monastery, 13 families lived at times. The village was completely destroyed around 1450 as a result of feuds between the Archbishopric of Strasbourg and the Lords of Geroldseck. The farmstead: The present-day farmstead remained as a remnant settlement. It came into the possession of the Ortenau knighthood at the end of the 15th century and changed noble owners several times over the centuries (including the Barons of Dungern). Modern times: In 1814, the Lahr tobacco manufacturer Christian Baron von Lotzbeck acquired the property. In 1910, the total agricultural area was finally sold to the municipality of Ichenheim. About 30 years ago, the dilapidated manor farm was acquired by the regionally well-known musician Jürgen Seitz and painstakingly restored over decades with attention to detail. Today, the property with its characteristic bell tower on the main house is considered a cultural-historical gem.
