August 16, 2026, St. Marienkirche Sarau

The church originally standing here was a Vicelinkirche, even one of the first in eastern Holstein. A new building was required from 1629 onwards; a (longer) new building was erected on the old foundations. The church was last renovated in 2008. For a former Vicelinkirche, it has an unusual appearance; only the natural stone foundation looks familiar.

large barns and outbuildings, an elongated, white residential building (the old manor house), manor house, administrator's building and various ancillary buildings characterize this quite extensive estate. The estate dates from the end of the 19th century. It is probably not of noble origin - but there is not much to read about on the internet. https://www.gut-glasau.de/

Glasau Manor, whose manor house was built in 1912 in the English style, is owned by the von Hoff family and used as a working farm. It is quite large, with numerous barns and outbuildings, both farm and residential. I couldn't find any evidence of its past as a knight's estate or aristocratic residence. It's well worth a visit and is open to the public.

The Sarauer Church is the church in the village of Sarau - a district of the municipality of Glasau - in the district of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein. It is located on the western edge of the village, surrounded by the church green. Today it is used by the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Sarau for church services.

An inconspicuous rest bench north of Sarau which nevertheless offers a beautiful view of the landscape.

Bridge over the still narrow Trave, which has just merged with the Glasau a few hundred meters to the north (sorry, the Glasau did not survive this, otherwise there might be a "Glausaumünde" near Lübeck instead of a Travemünde ...?!)
