Gelenau station had two sidings. The first, in 1891, connected the Schüller bleaching works. A second siding ran north to the Cotton Spinning Mill AG, founded in 1906, and into a warehouse. The mill was an important customer of the narrow-gauge railway. https://www.thumer-schmalspurnetz.de/index.php/strecke-thum-wilischthal/bahnhof-gelenau.html

Along the Wilisch cycle path, near the "Schüllermühle" mill, a rest area invites visitors to linger. Here, visitors will find not only seating but also an information panel and a diorama illustrating the settlement history of Gelenau. The individual elements were created as part of the Gelenau Chainsaw Event 2022. https://www.gelenau.de/news/2022-2/rastplatz

The memorial, erected in 1958, commemorates the murder of over 100 Jewish women by the Nazis in the first months of 1945. Only a small number of the women's names are known; these are inscribed on the plaques on either side of the memorial. The abbreviation FIA on the memorial stands for "Fascism is to blame for everything" and was a common abbreviation used on such memorials in East Germany.

We enter the forest again, the Zschopau River accompanies us for a moment, and then we climb step by step. Continuing along the path, we look again over the village of Scharfenstein and across to the castle. The sky has darkened again, the clouds are gray, and the sun gleams through. There's something very special about this atmosphere. Here's our entire tour https://youtu.be/yO9ZGM6zOe8
