Frankenwinheim is one of the oldest villages in Franconia. The first documented mention goes back to the year 779, when the Franconian nobleman Ilbinc donated the goods of the village "Winheim" to the Fulda monastery. Frankenwinheim celebrated its 1,225th anniversary in 2004. The most important son of the village is Prince Bishop Rudolph von Scherenberg, born in 1401 in the local castle. He reigned in Würzburg from 1466 - 1495. When it took part in the competition "Our village should become more beautiful", the magical village was able to achieve a GOLD MEDAL at state level and a SILVER MEDAL at federal level in the 90s. Today, many associations support community life and organize numerous festivals that make the community and the district of Brünnstadt known beyond the borders. The core of the Julius-Echter-Turm dates back to 1491. In 1608 a floor was added to house the tower clock and the belfry, and it was covered with an eight-sided, slate-covered knuckled helmet. The nave of the hall church, covered with a gabled roof, and the semi-circular apse were only added in 1836. The church furnishings date from the construction period of the nave. The organ on the gallery behind the portal has 16 registers, two manuals and a pedal and was built in 1837 by Balthasar Schlimbach,[1] which was replaced in 1952 by an organ by Michael Weise with a free pipe case.
