According to Wikipedia: "One of seven steles/discs by Ulrich Rückriem along the strategic railway embankment". welt-der-form.net explains: "The seven works by Rückriem are distributed over a section of approx. 11 km – between the Museum Insel Hombroich... in the north and Rommerskirchen-Nettesheim in the south." They are made of Spanish granite and – typical for Rückriem – were first cut, then reassembled and embedded in the ground. "Rückriem lived as a teenager just a few hundred meters from the railway embankment." Further information is provided by Wikipedia under "Ulrich Rückriem" and "Rückriem Stelen".

Between 1875 and 1879, the architect August Carl Lange built a church in Evinghoven in the neo-Gothic style. The church has a west tower, a single-aisled nave and a 5/8 choir in the east.

The part from about the height of Gohr is very easy to drive, the route up to Rommerskirchen has been well paved. I knew the railway embankment from Hombroich, where it was very roughly graveled last year. But I absolutely recommend it!
