The Hemmaberg is an 842 m high mountain in the foothills of the Karawanks and lies west of Globasnitz. There was once a Celtic sanctuary on the summit plateau. In late antiquity there was a hilltop settlement here with an older church and two double churches built at the beginning of the 6th century. The settlement was destroyed around 600. In the Middle Ages a pilgrimage church was built on the summit. A 1,000 year old linden tree on the edge of the plateau is noteworthy.

Very nice excursion destination 🚵 Very steep approach😥 to the Hemmaberg church. The last part to the grotto is not passable. Steps and lots of roots. Great round trip😀👍

Schloss Elberstein Fairy-tale castle built by oneself: Some build a house, others a castle. Ludmilla and Johann Elbe from Globasnitz show how to get a sweet castle with a coat of arms and a resounding name, even without millions in the bank.
