Used as the home of the Esterházy family since the first half of the 17th century, Lackenbach Palace has undergone careful renovation in recent years. Surrounded by a large garden with rare tree species, the museum "On the trail of nature", the guest house "Zum Oberjäger", a cozy café and is a coveted wedding location. Really worth seeing. https://esterhazy.at/schloss-lackenbach

The former moated castle was built by Erasmus Teuffl between 1548 and 1552 and expanded under Archbishop Nicolaus Oláh with the architect Geronimo Mariano. In 1618 the castle came into the possession of Count Nikolaus Esterházy. In 1806 the castle partially burned down, after which the north-west wing was not rebuilt. The moat is still partially preserved. The castle consists of a two-story main building with an elongated, ground-level farm building and an administrator's floor. The arched main portal still has the roles of the former drawbridge. A statue of the Virgin Mary and a double coat of arms Esterházy-Dersffy are located above the main portal.

07/13/2019 - Small but nice, exhibition about nature and hunting! Lovingly designed exhibition. A dream idyll. The garden and courtyards are beautifully kept.

Schloss Lackenbach is owned by the Esterházy family. The Renaissance complex, idyllically situated in the heart of Burgenland, is now open to visitors in newly designed or revitalized sections. There is also the Lackenbach Nature Museum here, which brings the visitor and the area's vegetation closer to the senses. According to the advertising text of the museum, nature should be 'understood' in the truest sense of the word - on the trail of nature.
