The historic oil mill is located on the Oberkirch mill stream and is one of the few remaining sites of its kind. www.heimattage2026.de www.heimattage2026.de +1 How it works: Unlike modern presses, the oil mill uses heavy wooden hammers (pounds) to crush oilseeds such as rapeseed, flaxseed, or walnuts before the oil is extracted using heat. Waterwheel: A striking feature of the mill is the waterwheel, which was completely renovated and reinstalled in 2025 to power the mill in its original style. Restoration: The preservation of the mill is largely driven by the "Oberkirch – Old Town" association, supported by local partners such as the Koehler Group. Visits and Experiences The oil mill is now a museum exhibit and is regularly open to the public: Guided Tours: Tours are often offered on the first Wednesday of each month. Baden-Württemberg State Festival 2026: The oil mill will be a central program item during the Baden-Württemberg State Festival 2026 in Oberkirch.
