The Ev. Christ Church, built between 1900 and 1902, is dominantly aligned with the street axis of Heedfelder Straße with its tower front. It is a neo-Gothic hall church, formed by a nave with a choir bay and a large transept, which is arranged in such a way that the floor plan corresponds to a Greek cross. To the right of the altar is the sacristy and to the left is a polygonal closed chapel, the vault ribs of which rest on leaf-decorated, Gothic-style wall brackets. The design comes from Gustav Adolf Fischer, Barmen, based on the model of the Charlottenburg Trinity Church. Like the Kreuzkirche in Lüdenscheid-Brügge, the Christ Church is committed to the Wiesbaden program, although both lack the pulpit organ altar. The gallery building is made of stone with a central column portal. The tower has a particularly rare helmet, which is made of natural stone slabs up to the top. The helmet is accompanied by corner helmets, as well as a gallery and polygonal stair towers. The High Gothic forms can be seen in the particularly rich twelve-passenger transept rosettes. On the front of the tower there is a stone sculpture depicting a blessing Christ. The choir wall closes on the inside with two three-lane Gothic arcades. Above it is a rose window with glass images that show the risen Christ in the middle, surrounded by trefoils, with images of the birth of Jesus, the baptism, the raising of Lazarus, the Sermon on the Mount, the crucifixion and the outpouring of the Spirit. The large wheel windows on the sides depict the Lamb of God and the pelican as a symbol of Christ in the middle. The twelve apostles are arranged in pairs in six picture windows on the choir soffit. The neo-Gothic stone altar shows the Nazarene-style image of Christ on the Mount of Olives. In the choir there are evangelist symbols and angels in the vault painting. With the inauguration of the Christ Church in 1902, the church on Wilhelmstrasse, which had previously been simply called the “City Church,” also received its current name, the “Church of the Redeemer.” CONTINUED and FURTHER INFORMATION: https://www.luedenscheid.de/luedenscheid_erleben/bildung_und_kultur/denkmaeler/sp_auto_679.php

<< Evangelical Parish Church Hülscheid >> "Together with the churches in the districts of Schalksmühle and Heedfeld, which are also included in the list of monuments, the parish church is a testimony to the sacred architecture of the past centuries and therefore has significant documentary and symbolic value for the local area. The two large bells of the Hülscheid church with the year 1482 and 1487 go back to the Catholic period of the Hülscheid community. The small third bell was cast in the second half of the 12th century. Text from the monument description: The Hülscheid Evangelical Parish Church is a hall church with a retracted square choir and a square tower with a retracted pointed helmet in front of the west gable. Plastered quarry stone masonry and slate roof, three-axis arched window, under the middle one on the south side an inscribed stone with a chronogram 1784: “AUXILIANTE DEO ECCLESIA HAECCE EX FUNDO RENOVATA ET PERFECTA / EST SUB CURA TH. H. PÖPINGHAUS HÜLSCHE DENDIUM / REFORMATORIUM FIDELIS AB ARCHITECTIS CORN. HEND ET CASP. WILH. IAC. ULENBERG FRATRIBUS". On the south side of the tower two baroque gravestones." https://www.schalksmuehle.de/wirtschaft-machen/denkmalschutz/ev-pfarrkirche-huelscheid
