The so-called Temple of Demeter at Girula (whether it was actually dedicated to Apollo remains uncertain) is one of the most important archaeological sites on Naxos and, based on recent archaeological findings, has been partially restored. Along with a nice, compact museum, the site is even open on weekdays in winter (except Tuesdays, like most museums here). (Admission: €3-5).

Nice to have a beer here. A can of beer costs €4. The wine was plentiful, but tasted awful. A large plastic cup filled with it costs €5.

What was once a nudist beach is now one of the most popular beaches in Naxos and has retained some of its original character. It is still a popular beach for nudists, who mainly come here off-season, but families and couples also come here, especially during peak season, forcing nudists to isolate themselves at one end, the south, of this long and magnificent beach. Its main feature is its long, wide stretch of white sand and turquoise waters.
