Ideal route from the train station to the Bille... At the end of the Karl-Heinz-Rissman-Weg, a trail runs to the left (coming from HH-Billwerder) - over a wooden bridge - between a allotment garden community and the Nettelnburg residential area.... briefly cross the Billwerder Billdeich and follow "Auf der Bojenwiese" .....after a few meters, the Billewanderweg branches off to the right or also to the left. From here you can wonderfully relax either in the direction of Hamburg-Bergedorf (or further) or Hamburg-Boberg 🚴♂️

The "Five Fingers" high-rise buildings in Hamburg-Lohbrügge characterize the image of the Green Center because they tower above everything else and can be seen from almost everywhere. The large-scale housing project Lohbrügge-Nord was built in 1961 as the first residential area in Hamburg that was built strictly according to an overall urban development concept. Where the fields and meadows of the Lohbrügge farmers had previously been, the city planners designed a combination of different building types and housing forms on a total of 215 hectares. In addition, around 20% of the area was intended for green spaces. Lohbrügge-Nord was not intended to be a pure "dormitory town". Instead, a complete district with various public facilities was created in several construction phases: schools, kindergartens, retirement homes, churches, sports facilities and small shopping centers for local supplies. In 1964, Europe's largest district heating plant at the time was built on Havighorster Weg to supply the district. Particularly striking residential complexes to this day are the "Five Fingers", the up to 17-storey high-rises on Korachstrasse, and the approximately 400-metre-long "Lindwurm" on Röpraredder. These two complexes alone have space for more than 800 apartments. In total, over 5,000 apartments had been occupied by 1970. The then modern concept of a large housing estate with space for living, shopping and leisure activities unfortunately did not always work out, because it also led to social tensions. Unfortunately, that is inevitable in such a large housing estate. This was also one of the reasons for a district development by the Lawaetz Foundation, which was carried out between 2000 and 2008. https://lohbruegge.de/lohbruegge-nord/

In the Lohbrügge Green Center, you will find a beautifully designed area with curved paths, perennial plantings and colorful beds with summer flowers. The center of the designed garden is the aviary at the gardener's base. Parakeets, finches, parrots and even chickens frolic in the large bird cage and delight visitors. A really great aviary. It's fun to watch the happy, small and large feathered friends here. https://www.laurustico.de/index.php/hh-gruen/543-gruenes-zentrum-lohbruegge

Green Center Lohbrügge exercise area for all dogs - rating 5 out of 6 paws. The following text from the homepage speaks for itself: "A beautiful grassy meadow where you can have a great time romping. A ball is a must here. Unfortunately, when it rains, the meadow gets pretty muddy, so don't forget your rubber boots. We can even swim in the pond here. After a lot of playing and romping, cooling down is really good. Owners can relax on one of the park benches and there are plenty of trash cans available. This dog meadow really has a high fun factor." https://hundewiese-hamburg.de/hundewiesen-in-bergedorf/hundewiesen-in-lohbruegge/hundewiese-gruenes-zentrum-lohbruegge/

The Evangelical Lutheran Resurrection Church in Lohbrügge was built between 1968 and 1970 on the former site of the Stock brickworks. This was initially founded in 1860 by Hans Hinrich Ohl as a simple hand-made brickworks. In 1887, Friedrich Stock bought the brickworks and expanded it into a large-scale operation. The bricks were transported to nearby construction sites over the cobbled Röpraredder using Belgian cold-blooded horses. The brickworks remained in the family until the 1950s. The Green Center's pond is now located in the clay pit. The Resurrection Church with its 36 m high tower was designed by the architect Hubert Wolfger. The graffiti on the tower façade, which was not covered with bricks as planned, but only consisted of exposed concrete, is noteworthy. The artists Heiko Zahlmann and Sascha Siebdrat needed 8 months to complete it. On the south side it shows the words from the story of creation: "And the earth was without form and void" with a picture of the empty land. On the east side you can see Adam and Eve under the tree of knowledge and on the north side the expulsion from paradise. On the west side there are pictures from the modern world. As part of the tower redesign, the parish hall and the church square were converted into a community center. https://lohbruegge.de/die-ev-luth-auferstehungskirche-lohbruegge/ https://kap-kirche.de/kontakt
