Säntis Summit (2,502 m)

Highlight • Summit

At 2,502 meters, the Säntis is the highest mountain in the Alpstein Mountains. The Säntis lies on the border between the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden, Aargau, and St. Gallen. The mountains are composed of limestone and marl. The cable car takes hikers from Schwägalp up the mountain. Even in June, snow lies here and temperatures are icy. From the Säntis, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Alpstein Mountains, the Appenzellerland, Lake Lucerne, and Lake Constance.

Fähnerenspitz Summit

Highlight • Summit

Great view. From the summit cross a short distance down into the forest towards the Resspass there is a nice fireplace.
The Fähnerenspitz is a popular mountain in every season because it is harmless and yet exudes a magical attraction from a mountain. And this even in bad weather, no matter how stormy it is and you think that you are the only crazy person who goes out in that weather ... but no ... on the Fähnerenspitz you meet other people in any weather "Crazy" on 😉

In winter, the Fähnerenspitz is a beautiful destination for snowshoe hikes and you can even find touring skis up here.

The area around the Fähnerenspitz is also very nice and sunny in the winter months (especially from Brülisau), if you start the ascent from Eggerestand, you first walk in the shade, but this path is also very beautiful and recommended.

Himmelsleiter (Säntis Summit Ascent)

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

A challenge on the first ascent. Easily doable for ambitious hikers who are sure-footed, have a head for heights and are equipped with the right hiking footwear. Be careful of oncoming traffic. Not recommended for hikers who are prone to dizziness or are unsteady. It is best to secure children with via ferrata equipment. Dogs must be in a backpack.

Kronberg Summit

Highlight • Summit

From Kronberg you have a great view of Lake Constance on the one hand and of Säntis and Alpstein on the other

Girenspitz

Highlight • Summit

The Girenspitz is the small peak next to the Säntis. At the signpost (bifurcation) with the direction Säntis, Tierwies and Höchnideri you can easily hike up to the Girenspitz. The path is not too difficult and leads over a certain underground with rocky parts up to the summit. The view up there is remarkable and beautiful and above all so much quieter than on the Säntis .... a real treat up here :-)!

Hundstein Summit

Highlight • Summit

The Hundstein is a somewhat inconspicuous mountain near Lake Fälensee. It has two alpine hiking trails that lead to the summit (see highlights). The path from the Widderalpsattel is much more demanding than the path that goes up from the Bollenwees. I recommend choosing the route between the Widderalpsattel and Hundstein for the ascent. It's easier to climb up there than to climb down.
At the top you have a wonderful view of the whole Alpstein.
