The town hall of Coesfeld, built as a successor to a Gothic building that was destroyed in the Second World War. The citizens' office is located in the entrance area of the town hall. One of the oldest legal symbols is the replica of the market cross in front of the town hall. Judgments were pronounced and municipal officials were sworn in at its feet. Since 1947, the town's 750th anniversary, the swearing-in of the town council has again taken place in front of the cross, as in the early modern period.
