In this 50-hectare area west of "Albersloher Weg," an "Air Force Signal Barracks" was built between 1935 and 1937. The former barracks were characterized by their distinctive architectural structure. Therefore, a portion of the historic site, approximately 24 hectares, is a listed building. After 1945, British forces took over the barracks and constructed additional buildings for their needs. For several decades, the Royal Dragoon Guards from Yorkshire, the Royal Logistic Corps from Surrey, and the King's Royal Hussars from Wiltshire were stationed here. After the withdrawal of the British forces, the city of Münster developed the area into a residential area. When it came time to name the streets, the Münster-Southeast District Council expressed a desire to name the streets after British regions or counties—particularly the counties housing the headquarters of the regiments stationed there. Since then, there have been ten street names here: Aberdeenweg, Angusweg, Essexweg, Kentweg, Norfolkweg, Surreyweg, Sussexweg, Walesallee, Wiltshireweg and Yorkshireplatz.

Here stands a British double-decker "Routemaster" bus, unfortunately most likely not in working order. The AEC Routemaster is a double-decker transit bus manufactured between 1956 and 1968 by the Associated Equipment Company (AEC) specifically as a city and regional bus (Country Bus and Green Line Coach) for London Transport. It featured an innovative design for its time, using lightweight aluminum together with techniques developed in aircraft production during World War II. In addition to a novel, weight-saving design, independent front suspension, power steering, a fully automatic transmission, and power brakes were also introduced for the first time. Drivers familiar with previous models found the bus unexpectedly light and nimble, as can be seen particularly in a film taken during testing in the Chiswick Works compact body. Footage of the RM200 undergoing the skid test was included in the 1971 film On the Buses.
