A beautiful woodland with old trees. As it is on the Witton Weaver's long distance path; it is incredibly well maintained. And provides some welcome shade on a hot summer's day. The colors in autumn are striking and in winter; as the trees are quite old; their shape is intricate and beautiful.

As the sun was shining and someone was navigating the water on a small rowing boat; this did not feel like a reservoir at all. For a short moment; I though I was on holiday, walking around a beautiful natural lake.

I took in a small section of that path in a walk around Roddlesworth reservoirs. That section went through a beautiful woodlands. As you would expect from a long distance path; it is very well maintained and pleasant to walk on.

This is a great hiking path that starts at White Coppice cricket club that takes you up past Joe Whitter, the fell runnerβs memorial, and onwards up to Great Hill and the summit rest area. Here you will find a stone cross seating area. There are stunning views to be had over to Winter Hill, the North Wales hills, and the Irish Sea on a fine day. Be advised that the path is quite rocky, so it is best to wear a decent set of footwear.
