Very beautiful views on this section between Windywalls and Mellendean, particularly near Mellendean to the north. From here, you should be able to see Kelso North Church and the Eildon Hills on the horizon. On a clear sunny day, particularly at sunrise or sunset, this impression is... practically impressionistic.

Bowmont Forest is managed (the straight paths and tracks are such a giveaway!), owned by Roxburghe Estates, but it's pleasant and a nice respite from a lot of the farmland elsewhere in this area. There are some lovely views from its edges, particularly from the eastern edge: a fantastic view of The Cheviot.

This is part of a disused railway that used to run between St Boswells and Tweedmouth. Now, an easy walk for anyone. This stretch is between Sprouston and Mellendean with some nice views of meadows and grazing areas on the way.

A weir (sometimes called 'cauld') on River Weir. This used to supply water to Banff Mill downstream, and there also used to be a ford here, with small islands midstream.

An interesting short segment where walking along Carham Burn, you are going to reach its confluence with River Tweed, where vast views over River Tweed open.

This pretty bridge runs over a footpath, which is a disused railway line that used to run between Kelso and Coldstream. Now a very pretty green walk - flat, quiet and with views of the fields that you are passing here
