October 17, 2026, Fiss Parish Church

The listed parish church in the center of the village of Fiss is dedicated to John the Baptist; St. Sebastian was added later as a second patron saint. It was first mentioned in 1310, and between 1717 and 1719 it was enlarged to the east and redesigned in the Baroque style. On the outside, the late Gothic north tower with its curved spire and octagonal bell tower is striking, and the facade features Baroque murals and Stations of the Cross from around 1757. A special feature is a relic of the beatified martyr priest Otto Neururer, who also worked as a curate in Fiss. Around the church lies the cemetery – a quiet place for a short break in the village center. It is generally open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Two benches directly on the path between Ladis and the Wolfsee near Fiss – with a breathtaking panoramic view of the mountains, the view extends into the Inn Valley near Prutz.

@Jana - you can't see the Ötztal Valley at all from here. In front of it are the Kaunertal and the Pitztal. And behind them, behind the seven mountains, somewhere is the Ötztal Valley...

The Wodeturm rises majestically at 1,487 meters above sea level and towers over the area above Ladis and Neuegg. On its two levels, it offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain scenery, the Kaunertal, the Inntal and the opposite village of Fließ with its striking St. Barbara Church. A spiral staircase leads visitors to the top floor of this tower, which is built entirely of wood. Source: serfaus-fiss-ladis.at
