The Hemmaberg is an 842 m high mountain in the foothills of the Karawanks and lies west of Globasnitz. There was once a Celtic sanctuary on the summit plateau. In late antiquity there was a hilltop settlement here with an older church and two double churches built at the beginning of the 6th century. The settlement was destroyed around 600. In the Middle Ages a pilgrimage church was built on the summit. A 1,000 year old linden tree on the edge of the plateau is noteworthy.
