The magnificent little village, located extremely lonely on the edge of the forest, is laid out in an L-shape and has beautiful half-timbered houses everywhere on both axes. Quite difficult to reach by car and bike due to the bumpy "road" full of cobblestones.

Thirty young German soldiers (paratroopers) died here in 1945, shortly before the end of the war. Senselessly killed by the Russians, who were presumably staying or hiding in this remote forest region because of the nearby highway. As I learned from a local mountain biker, this memorial was rebuilt years ago after the first one (a few meters away) was deliberately destroyed. Even the gravestone was stolen.

A beautiful lake in a very quiet location. There's an official swimming area not far from the dovecote, which also offers the best views. Otherwise, swimming in this lake is a bit difficult due to the many large rocks, but it's possible. The northern shore (from the swimming area) is completely inaccessible, but the southern shore is easily accessible along a rustic path.
