March 2, 2025, Historic Boundary Stone at Trottenwald (1543)

A beautiful viewing and resting place above Richelsdorf. A memorial stone was erected directly at the resting place to commemorate and warn of the air battle in the Werra Valley that took place on September 27, 1944. Right next to it is the historic boundary stone from 1543. 200m further southeast there is a similar boundary stone in the bushes between the meadow and the forest path.

Unfortunately, the stele was dismantled and the memorial plaque stolen by thoughtless contemporaries 🤮. Dear God, send brains from heaven!

Historical boundary stone at the Trottenwald from the year 1543. Towards the forest with the coat of arms of the von Trott family (checkered rafter in the shape of an upside down V) and towards Richelsdorf the coat of arms of the von Cornberg family (striding lion).

January 3, 2025, Heiligenstock

The Heiligenstock is a charming forest crossing with opportunities for hikes to the French oak, the Blumenstein castle ruins and the island pond. The sign “Heiligenstock” is weathered and lies on the ground in the middle of the crossing.

The name Pochmühle belongs to a mill that stood on the site of the Richelsdorfer Hütte, across the street. A stamping mill was operated there until around 1900, which crushed the copper slate that was mined around Nentershausen and Iba, hence the former name "Kupferhütte". The current residential building was seriously damaged by a fire in November 2020, but has since been restored and restored to its original appearance. It should be noted that the residential complex is privately owned (Trott zu Solz) and entry is not permitted.
