A beautiful church

This small Marian shrine does not have its name and patronage after one of the many people who are venerated as saints. LORETO is a place of pilgrimage in central Italy, Marche region. The place did not become famous because of apparitions of the Mother of God - like Lourdes in the French Pyrenees or Fatima in Portugal. Rather, a building is venerated there that is considered to be the house of Mary in Nazareth. According to legend, angels brought the house here from Israel - with a few stops along the way. The shrine can be found in the komoot system under the following link: => https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/1580848

On the site of today's church there was initially a previous Romanesque building, which was connected to the St. Leonhard cemetery chapel adjacent to the south (today only visible in the floor plan). After the choir, the nave was built in 1412. From 1488 the church was built by Hans Behaim the Elder. Ä. expanded to the north and south with two-story family chapels. This resulted in a three-aisled vaulted room, which is of the type that stands between the hall and the basilica.

I would call him the little brother of Annaberg Sulzbach-Rosenberg. While the mountain festival in Sulzbach takes place at the end of July, the Frohnberg takes place in mid-August. A week of mountain festival with lots of church services and stalls around it. The traditional main dish is the Bratelwurst. Lottery booths and much more. complement the offer.
