January 2, 2026, Bockwindmühle Wanzer

Windmills have existed in Wanzer since at least 1611. This particular windmill was built in 1805, though originally in Pollitz, 3 km away. It was moved to Wanzer in 1868 and is now maintained by many volunteers. We were lucky enough to witness an interior inspection.

Anyone traveling by motorhome or caravan and exploring the northern Altmark region will find an idyllic campsite in a perfect location in Seehausen. Located directly on the Aland floodplain, the spacious, green pitches offer plenty of space and tranquility – ideal for a relaxing break in nature. A particularly charming feature: The historic towers of St. Peter's Church can be seen from the campsite. The pretty town center with shops, restaurants, and attractions is just a few minutes' walk away. A lovely starting point for bike rides, walks, or simply taking a breather in the Altmark region!
