A very nice route with no real difficulty but it is quite exposed in one section.

We walked the route with a small dog (Schnautzer) but had to turn around halfway because it couldn't do a certain part that we did with climbing irons. A very beautiful but still not an easy route.

Part of the Jakub Surovec circular route. You almost feel like you are in the NP Slovak Paradise. Also suitable for children and accessible with dogs.

The Revúca region offers a diverse network of marked hiking trails. Specifically for families, this guide highlights 4 routes that are particularly suitable for outings with children, ranging from easy strolls to moderate adventures.
Yes, for an easy and relatively short adventure, consider the Čertova Jaskyňa Cave loop from Čertova dolina. This 4.8 km path is rated as easy and explores a scenic valley. Another easy option is the Kessler Hubert Memorial House – Fürkész Trail Waterfall loop from Jósvafő, which is just under 2.7 km and features a waterfall, perfect for a quick family outing. While some paths might be suitable for sturdy strollers, the region's terrain often includes natural surfaces, so a baby carrier might be more versatile for very young children.
The Revúca region, especially near the Muránska Planina National Park, is rich in natural wonders. You can explore unique karst formations, deep gorges, and rock formations. The Čertova Jaskyňa Cave loop leads to a cave, offering an exciting discovery for kids. The Kessler Hubert Memorial House – Fürkész Trail Waterfall loop features a lovely waterfall. The area is also known for its diverse ecosystems and dense forests.
Absolutely! The region is dotted with interesting landmarks. You can explore the disused railway tunnels, such as the 2401-meter-long Slavošovský Tunnel and the shorter Koprášsky Tunnel, which are unique attractions for walking and cycling (remember to bring a light!). The majestic Muráň Castle, one of Slovakia's highest-situated castles, also offers breathtaking routes and paths for hikers, though these might be more challenging than the family-friendly routes listed here.
The Revúca region is beautiful year-round, but for family hiking, late spring to early autumn (May to October) generally offers the most pleasant weather. During these months, trails are typically clear of snow, and temperatures are comfortable for outdoor activities. Summer provides longer daylight hours, while autumn brings stunning foliage.
Many trails in the Revúca region, including those within Muránska Planina National Park, are generally dog-friendly. However, it's always recommended to keep dogs on a leash, especially in national park areas, to protect wildlife and ensure a pleasant experience for all hikers. Specific rules may apply in certain protected zones, so always check local signage.
Yes, this guide includes several circular routes perfect for families. The Čertova Jaskyňa Cave loop from Čertova dolina is an easy circular path. For a slightly longer, moderate option, the Hussite House loop from Jósvafő provides a scenic circular walk of nearly 8.8 km.
For extensive views of the landscape, including the village of Muráň, the Poludnica Viewpoint is a notable spot.
