The palace was built between 1701 and 1711 as a hunting lodge for Emperor Charles VI. In 1945, the palace was plundered by Soviet occupation troops, and in 1949, it largely burned down. Only the central section of the main building survived; the side wings were gradually reconstructed.

The castle was built from 1701 to 1711 by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt as a hunting lodge for Emperor Charles VI. built. It was rebuilt by court architect Franz Anton Hillebrandt under his daughter Maria Theresia and became the summer residence of Albert of Saxe-Teschen and Archduchess Marie Christine as governor in Hungary. With the expanded operation of viticulture and winery, the Schloss Halbturn winery was established, which his nephew and adopted son Markus Königsegg-Aulendorf and his wife Philippa, née Waldburg-Zeil-Hohenems, have managed since Waldbott-Bassenheim's death in 2008. Rooms in the castle are also used as an exhibition venue and for the Halbturn castle concerts. The castle is a listed building and is included in the Austrian list of cultural assets. (Wikipedia)

The park is open 24 hours a day, year-round. Cyclists are welcome throughout the entire castle grounds; bike racks can be found in front of the castle and the restaurant. It's worth seeing, a worthwhile destination for a detour or a tour.

The consecration of an older church building was documented in 1714. The pre-Reformation parish was re-established in 1786. The church was rebuilt and extended according to a design by Josef Emanuel Fischer von Erlach around 1730. The church was renovated in 1856 and restored in 1976/1978. The urn of Archduke Albrecht II of Austria-Teschen, who died in Buenos Aires in 1955, is buried in the church. The origins of the parish presumably date back to the Middle Ages. After the reconstruction of the village in 1673, Franciscan priests from Frauenkirchen looked after the parish of Halbturn. The parish church, at the northern end of the village green (today: Erzherzog-Friedrich-Straße) and in the immediate vicinity of the castle, was built in 1679 under Emperor Joseph I. It is dedicated to St. Joseph.
