The church of San Giuseppe is a relatively recent structure compared to other buildings in the town of Tempio Pausania. Its history begins in 1935, when the municipality sold the land for its construction. The building stands on a hill where in ancient times death sentences were carried out by hanging. Work began on August 31, 1947, by the will of Monsignor Morera, and lasted until the construction of the majestic bell tower in the late 1990s, which is 37 meters high and is reminiscent in its lines of that of San Marco in Venice on the left in the main prospectus. The building, in exposed granite stone, is decorated with round arches in relief and is built in neo-Romanesque style with a hut structure. The lunette portal with arch takes up the shape of the slopes and is surmounted by an oculus with stained glass. The interior is simple and austere, with a single nave and a Latin cross floor plan. In the same square there is also the monastery of the Conventual Friars, who are entrusted with the care of the religious building. The church is easily accessible from the city center by driving along the entire length of the ring road called San Francesco. Source: https://idese.cultura.gov.it/place/chiesa-di-san-giuseppe-4/

The church dedicated to San Pietro Apostolo, cathedral of the diocese of Tempio-Ampurias, stands in the heart of the historic center. Built starting from 1200, the medieval granite building underwent various changes over the centuries, from the construction of the bell tower in the 16th century to the expansion works completed in 1827. The inauguration and consecration took place on June 2, 1839 by the bishop Monsignor Capece, who commissioned many of the marble furnishings of San Pietro. The church presents itself 2 St. Peter's Basilica in baroque style. It consists of a single nave with four chapels on each side. The very simple façade, slightly enlivened by the splayed portal and the two round-arched windows of the upper part, is deprived of its function by the much more complex side on the right side. with pediment openings, oculi decorated with mosaics and the articulation of the surface by pairs of strongly raised pilasters. The interior, in the nave, covered by a grooved barrel vault, has four chapels on each side and a semicircular apse where the wooden "choir" is located, the individual columns are deeper, forming almost a transept, to which the large raised and apsidal area of the presbytery is attached. The last restoration works date back to 2007: thanks to them, the vault has regained its ancient colors, with bright green tones that highlight the nineteenth-century marble furnishings in baroque-Genoese style, including the main altar, the pulpit, the baptismal font and some statues. The cathedral is equipped with a beautiful organ by Paolo Ciresa, dating from 1980, consisting of 25 registers and 1726 pipes. Source: https://comuneditempiopausania.it/cattedrale-san-pietro/

Bridge still closed as of 20th April 2024. Looks like there's still weeks/months of work left. I tried to cross but the construction workers forced me to turn around and take the 15km detour

Lake Coghinas is an artificial lake that collects water from the Rio Mannu and the river of the same name. It was built in 1927 under Mussolini, to build a hydroelectric power station. The dam is 185 meters long and 58 meters high. On the eastern bank of the gorge you can see an Art Nouveau villa that housed the director of the plant, which was then abandoned.

Bridge that crosses the lake on state road 392. At the moment it is closed to car traffic as a precaution by Anas. (With the bike, if you want, you can go beyond the guard rail and cross but don't take this as advice!)
