The Prussian Memorial near Nossentin, also known as the York-Blücher Memorial, commemorates the battle of November 1, 1806, during the Napoleonic Wars. After the Prussian defeat at Jena and Auerstedt, Colonel Ludwig Yorck von Wartenburg and his field police covered the retreat of General Blücher's troops in the Battles of Waren and Nossentin. This operation is considered a small but strategically important Prussian victory. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the battle, the Mecklenburg Officer Corps erected the memorial in 1856 directly at the historic site on the outskirts of Nossentin. It was restored around the turn of the millennium and supplemented with information panels, so that today it is considered an important memorial of regional and Prussian military history.

In 2023 and 2024 I interrupted my long bike rides here several times for a few swims. Very clear, beautiful water. You can no longer stand at the end of the jetty. Clean water and the bottom is firm and sandy, small climbing plants and no water lilies. One of the most beautiful lakes in the area, I think.

With so many lakes, there can sometimes be a “mountain lake”. It made me curious and attracted me. Very beautiful sight, great view of the lake and crystal clear water. It's worth it!
