In the Erfurt Steigerwald, there are numerous small bodies of water that were formed naturally. Only one of them – the Quellteich – was lined with stone more than 100 years ago by the Steigerverschönerungsverein. Many of the ponds and pools are hardly recognizable as such today, as a considerable amount of mud has accumulated over the years due to leaf litter. As a result, the bodies of water are increasingly silting up, which significantly impairs the habitat for many rare and valuable species. Therefore, a total of eight ponds in the Steigerwald were recently de-silted, upgraded, and surrounding trees were partially removed. The de-silting is intended to enlarge the water surface in each pond and thus make the entire water body accessible again. Furthermore, by removing the adjacent trees, the shading of the bodies of water is reduced, the future leaf litter. Unfortunately, there are also always idiots who vandalize these beautiful information boards 🥺😝😡

The fountain supplies drinking water, except in the winter months. In 1991/1992, after the political change, the Minerva, which was in dire need of renovation, was renovated with funds (33,000 DM) from the Association of Homeland Loyal Erfurters from West Germany. For this, the city of Erfurt thanks the association and its then chairman, Dr. Lorenz Drehmann, on a small plaque on the back of the monument's base. The work was carried out by the Erfurt branch of the Chemnitz monument preservation and restoration company. On the occasion of the last meeting of the Association of Homeland Loyal Erfurters, the restored Minerva fountain was ceremoniously handed back to the citizens of Erfurt on September 5, 1992 as a gift for the 1250th anniversary celebrations. This fulfilled the request of Erfurt's mayor Manfred Ruge to the association's members at their meeting in Mainz in 1990.[1] The Minerva statue had to be repaired several times between 2004 and 2011 due to random damage. In August and September 2013, it will undergo a thorough restoration, partly due to damage caused by road salt. Source: Wikipedia

Waldhausteich in the Steigerwald, a spawning ground for toads and frogs. By installing an amphibian guidance device in the adjacent street, the traffic losses during the spawning migration of the amphibians could be drastically reduced.
